The Skilled Nominated visa subclass 190 is a permanent residence visa for points-test skilled workers who want to work and live in Australia after being nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency. The 190 visa is a state sponsored visa.
To be able to apply for the 190 visa you need to submit an expression of interest and then be invited through Skill Select to apply.
You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for visa subclass 190 and when the visa is granted.
The 190 visa is a skilled visa for Australia and is for points-tested skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government agency.
The visa subclass 190 allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
One might be eligible to apply for this visa if he was invited. The individual applying for visa subclass 190 must also have the following at the time of obtaining a letter of invitation,
- Persons applying for visa subclass 190 should be nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list.
- Candidates applying for 190 visas should have obtained a suitable skills assessment for that occupation.
- Persons applying for visa subclass 190 should have not yet turned 50 years of age.
- Candidates applying for 190 visas should have achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test.
- Persons applying for visa subclass 190 should have at least competent English.
- Candidates applying for 190 visas should have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.

What This VISA Will Let You Do
The 190 visa is a permanent residency visa. It lets you and any member of your family unit who has also been granted this visa:
- The 190 visa allows you to stay in Australia indefinitely.
- visa subclass 190 allows you work and study in Australia.
- The 190 visa allows you to enroll in Medicare, Australia’s scheme for health-related care and expenses.
- visa subclass 190 allows you to apply for Australian citizenship (if you are eligible).
- The 190 visa allows you to sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence.
- The 190 visa allows you to travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted (after that time, you will need a resident return visa or another visa to return to Australia).
Nomination By A State Or Territory Government
State and territory government agencies can view your expression of interest in Skill Select and decide whether to nominate you for the 190 visa. Each state or territory has a list of occupations that guides the types of skills they are looking for in visa subclass 190.
In your expression of interest, you can indicate your interest in just one state or territory, or you can choose to be available to all of them. If you accept a nomination for visa subclass 190, the states and territories might require you to:
- live in the nominating state or territory for a specified minimum time.
- tell the state or territory your address, both before and after you arrive in Australia.
- be prepared to complete surveys and providing other post-arrival information they ask for.
- Meet any of their other requirements as specified for 190 visa.
