About the course

Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology): Pharmacology studies how medications affect living things. Applying medications to treat or prevent disease safely and effectively requires a thorough understanding of pharmacological concepts. It offers the foundation for a career in drug discovery and development and is a great addition for individuals considering a biomedical sciences career. In this major, students will examine the key biochemical pathways that are activated while learning how medications target particular organs receptors. Aside from these, there are also discussions of the dose-response relationship, toxicity, drug metabolism and elimination, drug development, and the impact of population-specific genetic variation on drug response. Understanding how medications work against microorganisms is important because of the growing global issue of developing new drugs against infectious pathogens. Computer-based simulations, hands-on labs addressing molecular, cellular, and physiological reactions, and contemporary drug analysis methods serve as the foundation for theoretical knowledge.
