SHO MEANING: FULL FORM, DUTIES & POWERS IN POLICE WORK

Introduction
SHO stands for Station House Officer. Station House Officers are the commander of the Police station and have the responsibility of law and order in that respective area.
Both Sub-Inspector and the Inspector of a police station can be regarded as SHO. The commanding officer of a police precinct is called a Station House Officer (SHO). A police officer with the rank of Sub Inspector is called as the SHO in townships and rural parts of India. In big cities, an officer assigned as Circle Inspector (also called Police Inspector) is called the SHO. At police headquarters, the SHO is assisted by three to five Sub Inspectors in a variety of duties.
With the help of the governments and with proper discipline, the SHO's primary responsibility is to oversee and personalise the administrative principles of his subordinates, travelling to various cities and regions and putting enough efforts to maintain law and order. Additionally, he is responsible for keeping a close eye on antisocial behaviour, negative personalities and developments in alerting higher-ups.

What are the qualifications of an SHO?
India had around 15,650 police stations as of February 2019. Inspectors or Sub-Inspectors are two types of station house officers. The distinction between a SHO and an inspector
A police officer's rank determines the difference between an Inspector and a SHO Inspector. The rank of Police Inspector is known by three stars on the shoulder stripe of their uniform. A Police Inspector is one of the highest-paying government jobs in India. A police inspector's rank stays the same even after they are assigned to various police force units.
The SHO is the person who is in control of a police station, based on this description. Other than stating that the SHO may be any other official from the police station who is higher in rank than a police constable, the rank of the SHO is not particularly mentioned. This implies that SHO does not necessarily need to be a police officer with the rank of Inspector. The SHO is a police inspector in bigger cities and metro areas, although a police sub-inspector may also serve as a SHO in smaller towns or talukas.
Who is in charge of the Police station?
Station House Officer is in charge of the Police station. A SHO has both the rank of Sub Inspector in both rural and urban areas of India. Station House Officers in big cities are given the position of Circle Inspector. Circle inspector is also another name for Police Inspector. At the police headquarters, three to five Sub Inspectors support the SHO with a variety of duties.
