Quacquarelli Symonds releases its World University Rankings

And Not A Single Indian Institution In The Top 100

Quacquarelli Symonds, or QS as it is popularly known, is a British company that specializes in study abroad and education. Every year the company releases its QS World University Rankings of the top universities in the world.

The rankings which were started in 2004 are highly respected in the education and Study Abroad field and it is considered a mark of excellence and credibility. The most recent rankings, the QS World University Rankings for 2018 have been released, and sadly, none of the Indian educational institutions, not even the prestigious IITs make it to the top 100.

Indias best performance is by IIT Delhi and IIT Mumbai which come into the rankings at 172 and 179 respectively

The QS World University Top Ten

The rankings for the worlds Best Universities were released recently and as could be expected most of the top honors were shared between the USA, UK and Australia with China making a surprise entry.

When viewed from overall rankings criteria, Massachusetts appeared at the top of the ranking for the sixth time in a row. While when seen from the perspective of graduate employability, Stanford University made it to the top.

Of all the factors considered when compiling this list, graduate employability is one of the most important that a student who plans to study abroad takes into account when zeroing in on his choice of university.

Graduate Employability

In terms of graduate employability, the following universities made it to the top 10

Stanford University

Stanford was judged as the best university in the world for graduate employability. The university which was adjudged third best for overall ranking, also got high honors for its STEM subjects making it to the top five for Engineering, arts, technologies, and humanities. The university which was established in 1891, ranks highly on almost all the parameters.

University of California LA (UCLA)

UCLA comes in second on the list in terms of graduate employability for the QS. While it dips to a low 33 when it came to overall ranking. UCLA was ranked as the fourth best university for the subjects of electrical and electronic engineering and figured among the ten best universities in the world for English language and related subjects.

Harvard University

Harvard is ranked third in terms of graduate employability, the Prestigious University, which is famous for churning out US presidents and other heads of state, got top rank for various subjects including accounting, medicine, life science and others.

University of Sydney

The University of Sydney was ranked as the fourth best in the world and the best university in Australia as per the criteria of graduate employability. For students who aspire to Study Abroad, this university is amongst the top choices, on account of its excellent faculty, strong and diverse student body and an alumni network that is spread across the world.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

MIT needs no introduction to students who aspire to study abroad, from economics to engineering, from business to research; MIT is one of the Top Universities for a wide range of subjects. In terms of graduate employability, the university comes in at no 5. The university has achieved maximum possible score across all categories in the ranking.

University of Cambridge

The University of Cambridge is perhaps one of the oldest universities to be featured on this list. Established in 1209, the university ranks no 6 in terms of Graduate Employability and no 5 in terms of overall ranking. One of the most prestigious universities in the world, Cambridge University is definitely a dream destination for most students who aspire to study abroad.

University of Melbourne

Situated in the friendly city of Melbourne, there is much to love about the University of Melbourne, including its students, its faculty, the quality of research at the university and the vibrant atmosphere of Melbourne city. Not surprising that this university is one of the most coveted Universities for Study Abroad.

University of Oxford

The University of Oxford is one of the oldest Universities in UK and one of the most prestigious in the world. It is ranked no 8 in terms of graduate employability and no 6 for the overall ranking. The university got a top rating for teaching, innovation, and research making it one of the favorite universities for students who aspire to study abroad.

University of California (Berkeley)

UCB is one of the most famous universities in the north western region of USA. The university is ranked 27th overall but broke into The Top 10 for Graduate Employability at no 9. Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University, situated in China, is the only Asian University to be featured on the top 10. The university is fast becoming a favorite among Asian students who are looking for closer to home options to study abroad. The university is located in Beijing and has what is considered as one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. Tsinghua ranks 1st among BRICS Universities and 25th in overall rankings.
