And leading the change has been the Indian student demographic. According to the report, students from India who go to Study Abroad in USA have shown the greatest growth, year on year with an estimated 12.3% increase in the number of students who come to Study Abroad from India. This has been the third successive year in which the biggest growth in the number of students has come from India.

Students who study abroad benefit US institutions

According to the Department of Commerce in the USA, students who came to Study Abroad in USA from all over the world, have contributed more than 30 Billion USD to the economy.  The students bring in this money by the tuition fees they pay and the expenses they incur as a part of boarding and living expenses. Increase in number of Indian students who Study Abroad in USA

The primary increase in the number of students was seen at the graduate level and with those who are in the OPT scheme. About a quarter of these students were those who had a degree in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) subjects with those with a degree in Business and Humanities coming in second. The report also stated that the number of students from India, who Study Abroad in USA has actually doubled over the last 10 years, despite, reports to the contrary, that Indians are losing confidence in the US education visa. According to the report, the top five states in America in terms of International Student strength are California, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

In spite of the increased numbers, one must keep in mind that there has been a marginal decline in the growth rate of the number of students who opt to Study Abroad in USA from India. The growth rate of Indian students has declined from 24.9 percent last year to around 12.3 percent in the current year. It is important to note that while the number of students who study abroad has increased the rate of year on year growth has declined. It is thought that this decline in the rate of growth may be attributed to the new Government and the restrictive immigration policies instituted by it. It is heartening to note, however, that the number of students who Study Abroad from India has continued to grow, thus cementing the confidence that Indian students have in the US Education System
