CANADAS NEW NOC 2021 ISSUED & IN AFFECT FOR FALL 2022
The new TEER System replaces the NOC Skill level
The earlier skill categories are 0, A, B, C. But IRCC has mentioned that the new NOC is going to have an altogether new TEER system to segregate the occupations of the applicants. TEER means Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities on which jobs will be categorized.
Why New TEER System is introduced by Canada?
To begin with, classifying professions based on "skill levels" is perplexing, given the NOC is concerned with occupations rather than skills. The new TEER system is introduced to lay a spotlight on the applicants who have good experience and education to work for a specific job. Second, Statistics Canada claims that the previous NOC method is not up to the mark in dividing low- and high-skilled workers. So, this new NOC TEER method can categorize professionals more accurately based on their skills.
Total of 6 Teer Categories
Currently, there are 4 categories - 0, A, B, C. But NOC 2021 is coming with 6 different categories which are why it is worth migrating to work in Canada. Here is the detailed information on the TEER system. TEER 0: Managerial Occupations TEER 1: Multiple years of experience in a particular occupation from TEER 2 Or A University degree (bachelors or masters or doctoral) TEER 2: Jobs at supervisory or substantial safety (for example police officers and firefighters) Or Multiple years of experience in a particular occupation from TEER 3 Or 2-3 years of post-secondary education at any community college or any Institute of Technology or CEGEP Or Completion of 2-5 years of the apprentice program TEER 3: Less than 2 years of post-secondary education at any community college or any Institute of Technology or CEGEP Or Completion of 1-2 years of the apprentice program Or Multiple years of experience in a particular occupation from TEER 4 Or Six or more months of job training /training course/ work experience in any occupations in-demand in Canada with any secondary school education. TEER 4: Multiple years of experience in a particular occupation from TEER 5 Or Secondary School education Or Multiple weeks of job training /training course/ work experience with any secondary school education TEER 5: No Formal Education is required and Short work experience proof is enough
New Occupations added in Data Science & Cyber Security
There are 516 professions in the new TEER system, up from 500 in NOC 2016. To represent expanding disciplines such as data science, cyber security, and others, new jobs have been established in 2021. All these changes will be in effect for fall 2022. IRCC has released this news earlier so that ESDC and others will have time for updating their systems with new NOC categories.
