A noteworthy jump in demand for visas in all categories was recorded where the applications rising by 60% compared to 2022. Hyderabad is playing a crucial role in this increase in Indian representation, as 10% of those applying for U.S Student visas were from Hyderabad.

This allowed the U.S. Mission to reduce the appointment wait time while processing over 3,80,000 employment visas for Indians and their families in 2023. To further streamline the procedure for qualifying H1B holders, a pilot program would allow them to renew their visas in the U.S. in 2024.
Surge in USA Visitor Visas
USA Visitor Visas (B1/B2) applications are increasing to almost 7,00,000, the second-highest amount in the history of the U.S. Mission. To meet this demand, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mumbai conducted a three-month workforce surge early in the year, expanded the number of permanent employees, and used creative technical solutions. The nationwide appointment wait time for visitor visas has decreased from an average of 1,000 to just 250 days because of process improvements and staffing increases. In every other category, there are minimal wait times.
