BUSINESS LEADERS PUSH FOR MORE SKILLED IMMIGRATION TO CANADA

At the beginning of the month, the council of business leaders in Canada conveyed a list of recommendations, before the Canadian budget to the federal government in the country, to call for more focus on long-term economic growth as well more employment generation.
A letter, which was addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, has also encouraged the government to increase Skilled Immigration to Canada

The letter has put forward, seven primary recommendations to put Canada on the path of economic recovery. Of these, the most important, was seen to be the one that asked for the facilitation of an easy Immigration Path For Skilled Workers from other countries. According to the author of the letter, there is a need to enhance the labor force in the country, by making it more adaptable and agile.
This would help Canadian students, who are entering the work force to build more rewarding careers, contribute to the economy in a positive way. The enhancement of the existing immigration system, would make the country a hub for the best talent internationally
The open letter, which was addressed to the Deputy PM, also asked the Canadian government to do away with barriers and limitations to full integration of the labour market, such as the requirement for foreign credential recognition. The letter exhorts the government to work in co-ordination and co-operation with provinces and employers to ensure that displaced workers are given training and are made ready for careers in new sectors.
This letter is part of the initiate by the Canadian government, which has invited pre-budget consultations from the public, and has asked them for their opinion on what they would like to see included the upcoming budget for the country. This would be the first budget in the country since the pandemic and hence is being seen as an important one
If approved, these steps could go a step further in making the immigration process easier for people in the highly skilled work category, and ensure a quick Canadian PR process. Even as on current date, the process for Canada work visa, as well as Canada PR Through Express Entry is one of the most transparent, and straightforward visa processes among the developed world. These new recommendations, if put in place, would make Canada an even stronger attraction for international skilled labor.

It remains to be seen if Canadas nearest neighbour, the United States would also make changes to its immigration policy to attract more skilled talent. It would probably need to take some steps of these kind, to prevent the diversion of skilled immigrants to Canada.
In the earlier decades, USA was recognized as the global hub for innovation led by highly skilled talent, both homegrown and international, but with these progressive measures, being taken by Canada in the recent past, it may very well replace USA as the global economic and business innovation leader.
