If you are planning to study in Canada, then you will need to be aware of the application process for gaining admission into Canadian universities. The application process can differ, depending on which university, course, or degree you are applying for. However, in general, there are a few steps that are common to all international students.

The first step for studying in Canada is to decide what course and university you will be applying to for your higher studies.

General Eligibility Conditions for Undergraduate Program in Canada

  • You will need to have completed your class 12th in a study program that is equivalent to Canadian education
  • You should provide the results of your TOEFL or IELTS test
  • Some universities require students you will need to provide the results of your SAT
  • If you are planning to study engineering, then you will need to have taken a course in Physics, math, chemistry, and English, in your 12th grade
  • If you are planning to take up a course in IT or business then you will need to have studied Math in 12th grade.
  • You will need to provide letters of recommendation from your teachers as well as the statement of purpose

General Eligibility Conditions for the Graduate Program in Canada

  • You will need to have completed your undergraduate, in any course that has a duration of at least four years.
  • You should have scored a minimum of 6.5 points overall in your IELTS exam or any other test to check your English proficiency, which is approved by the government
  • You will be required to take and submit the scores of the GRE test along with your application
  • You will need to provide Letters Of Recommendation from your professors and mentors. Some universities may also require you to write an essay or a statement of purpose

Gather Required Documents

You will need to submit the following documents at the time of your application to the university

  • Test results of the tests you have taken
  • Transcripts of your previous academic records
  • Certificates of any previous achievements that are relevant to the application process
  • Letters of recommendation and SOP

Submit your Application

After you have completed all the above steps and have gathered all the required documents, you should complete the application process by submitting your application package to the university.
