The application process for studying in Italy varies based on whether you are an EU or non-EU student and whether you plan to undertake undergraduate (first cycle) or graduate courses (second and third cycle). As an Indian student, you can follow the below procedure for the application submission for university and for applying to student visa. Find the Best University

Before starting the search for universities, decide the course you want to study and search which colleges has that course. Verify the curriculum whether the course you have chosen, covers the topics you need for your dream career. Then narrow down the universities list in Italy as per your preferences.

Checklist Before Submitting Applications

Here is a checklist of things to be verified before applying to the Italian universities.

  • Verify the living costs in the city where the universities you selected are and also check the tuition fees. Italy is an expensive country to live in.
  • Check the eligibility before applying Student visa for Italy as some universities have a preliminary test to provide admission. So, make sure of eligibility to avoid rejections. If you contact university for prior assessment, they will send the feedback on your eligibility.
  • If you meet the admission requirements, you must submit a pre-application request to the Italian embassy or consulate in your area
  • Your application and supporting papers will be forwarded by the Italian embassy or consulate to the Italian higher education institution to which you have chosen to apply.
  • Typically, the Italian embassy or consulate releases a list of accepted candidates around the end of August.

Applying to Universities

Eligible students are frequently ranked according to their past grade point average (GPA). Check with your favorite institution to find out what the minimum GPA is for the degree you wish to pursue.

You may be required to take one-of-a-kind admission examinations for specific specialized fields of study, such as Medicine, Architecture, Engineering, etc.

Fulfill the language requirements

Italian universities offer study programs that are taught in both Italian and English. Most English study programs, however, are only offered at the postgraduate level (Master's degrees and PhD programs).Some Italian universities may allow you to apply for degrees taught in Italian while doing coursework and exams in English. Don’t wait till Deadlines

Application deadlines dates vary by institution, so check with the university you are interested to apply and apply as soon as possible. In general, the deadline for applications for Italian universities would be from Mid-April to Mid-May.

Wait for the acceptance letter

Once you receive the acceptance letter, proceed with applying the student visa and then proceed with the health insurance and residence permit.
