Business Impact Category or 100 Percent Ownership Stream

  • The Business Impact category for Prince Edward Island immigration has been altered from September 2018 onwards. Only those entrepreneurs who intend to fully own their concerns through the newly established 100 percent ownership stream, which will be replacing the business impact category.   • Candidates who seek to immigrate to Canada and meet the eligibility criteria for one of the federal programs can create an Express Entry profile on Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The top ranking profiles are given The Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence.
  • Candidates who intend to increase scores can apply further to PNP which awards 600 more points. The processing time for PEI PNP is 6 months or maybe less.

The eligibility criteria for the respective pathways and stream are as given below

Eligibility for PEI PNP - Business Category Stream

  • In order to be eligible for the 100 percent ownership stream, you will need to satisfy the following criteria.
  • You should be able to clearly demonstrate his intention to live and establish a business in the province.
  • You must possess a minimum personal net worth of 600,000 CAD which can be verified and which has been legally earned.
  • Person applying should have a minimum education level that is equal to secondary school certification.
  • You must be within 21-59 years of age at the time of application;
  • You should have had prior employment experience or experience with owning a business.
  • You should satisfy minimum language criteria.
  • You should be willing to attend an interview with the Office of Immigration.
  • You should willingly sign an escrow agreement with PEI and deposit a sum of 200,000 CAD.

Eligibility Criteria for PEI PNP- Labor Impact Category - Skilled Worker Stream

  • Your age should be between 21 and 59 years.
  • You should be able to provide proof of full time, a long-term job offer (at least 2 years) in NOC Skill set O, A, or B.
  • You need to show the legal status in the current country of residence.
  • You should provide a valid work permit if living in Canada.
  • You will need to have a postsecondary degree/ diploma and be assessed and verified by a recognized authority/institution.
  • You should be able to attend an interview in PEI as the job demands.
  • You are required to provide proof of at least 2 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years.
  • You should show sufficient funds to sustain in PEI according to government norms.
  • You should be proficient in English/French (CLB 4.0).
  • You should be able to show a genuine interest to work and settle in PEI.

Requirements for Employers

  • The employer should provide an employment offer for full-time, permanent (at least 2 years).
  • Employment must be based on education, training, and experience.
  • The term and conditions of employment must comply with provincial standards and wage rates.
  • The employment should be in PEI with a contract provided.
  • Settlement support is also expected from the employee's family.
  • Attendance at immigration interviews is recommended.
  • Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is also required when applicable.

Eligibility Criteria for PEI PNP- Labor Impact Category - Critical Worker Stream

  • Your age should be between 21 and 59 years.
  • You should be able to provide proof of a full time, long-term job offer (at least 2 years) in NOC Skill set C or D which may include one of the following professions.
    • Truck driver
    • Customer Service Representative
    • Laborer
    • Food and Beverage Server
    • Housekeeping Assistant
  • You should have worked for at least 6 months full-time for a PEI Employer.
  • You should demonstrate your legal status in the current country of residence.
  • You should provide a valid work permit if living in Canada.
  • You should have a post-secondary degree/ diploma and have been assessed and verified by a recognized authority/institution.
  • You will be required to attend an interview in PEI as the job demands.
  • You should provide proof of at least 2 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years.
  • You should be able to show sufficient funds to sustain in PEI according to government norms.
  • You should be proficient in English/French with a minimum CLB score of 4.0.
  • You should be able to show a genuine interest to work and settle in PEI.

Application Process for SINP

  • Ensure and confirm that you are meeting all the eligibility criteria for the stream that you plan to apply
  • Once you have confirmed that you are eligible for PEI PNP, then you should submit your application for Expression of Interest to the provincial government through its e-filing portal
  • Once your application is processed and you receive an ITA from the province, you go ahead and make an application for nomination from the province
  • If you obtain the nomination from the provincial Government you can apply for permanent residency through IRCC
